9-10 am – Matt Grossman- Avoiding Claims With Post-Closing Diligence.
This session will instruct attorneys and non-attorney legal assistants in the value of certain post-closing diligence that will assist in avoiding claims.
10-11 am – Ryan Martinez- Consumers in Distress
This session will cover the challenges presented when consumers are under distress, including foreclosures, bankruptcies, and related alternatives. We will discuss the applicable statutes, rules, and regulations that may be involved when these scenarios arise and point out the keys to understanding whether there are title-related issues to be addressed. The presentation will also highlight common problems and provide tips to obtain the information needed to resolve these situations when they are present in the chain of title to the property or are being experienced by the current owners during the transaction.
11-12 pm – Mark Chastain- To survey or not survey. That is the question.
This session is a discussion of the business and ethical considerations of whether to and when to obtain a new survey and the risks of proceeding without one.
